Dear Members of the Lakeview Academy Community,

On behalf of the Head of School Search Committee we want to thank the entire Lakeview Academy community for the warm reception that they showed the four Head of School Finalists that visited our campus recently. The Finalists were impressed with our school and the people they met during their visits.

The Search Committee is now following an established process to review the information that has been collected on the Finalists. Our goal is to be in a position to recommend a candidate to the Board of Trustees on November 18, 2019. We should be in a position to provide an update on the process to the entire Lakeview Academy community shortly after this date.

We are grateful for your support and patience while we conclude this very important process.

Sincerely,

Jay Kilroy and Sheetal Mangalat

Dear Members of the Lakeview Academy Community,

We are excited to share with you an update on the progress of the Head of School Search for Lakeview Academy. Our representatives from Carney Sandoe & Associates (CSA), Ralph Davison and Barbara Daush, spent the summer sourcing and interviewing candidates, starting with a list of over 7,400 potential candidates, and subsequently reducing the candidate list down to 140, interviewing many of these candidates throughout the summer.

The candidate list was ultimately whittled down to 14 semi-finalist candidates, focusing on those candidates whose experience and qualities would correspond to what Lakeview Academy is seeking in its next Head of School. We were encouraged by the pool of energized and experienced education professionals from a variety of backgrounds, experiences, and different parts of the country. Importantly, most of the semi-finalist candidates had a connection to the Southeast in one way or another, and most knew Lakeview and the Gainesville area well.

The Search Committee then met with our representatives from Carney Sandoe on campus to discuss each of these semi-finalist candidates, which resulted in a further narrowing of this candidate list down to eight candidates. The Search Committee then personally interviewed these eight individuals over several weeks. After thoughtful discussion, the Search Committee selected four candidates to come to Lakeview Academy as finalists. All of these visits will occur during the month of October 2019.

During the upcoming finalist visits, each candidate will participate in a thorough two-day series of interviews and discussions with the Lakeview Academy community. This is an opportunity for our community to learn more about each of the finalists and, just as important, for each finalist to learn more about us. Each candidate will hold one-on-one and group meetings with our senior administrators, Board of Trustees, students, parents, faculty, and staff, to ensure that as many members of our community as possible have the opportunity to connect with our finalists.

Below is a schedule of the upcoming finalist visits:
  • First Finalist Visit: October 9-10, 2019
  • Second Finalist Visit: October 17-18, 2019
  • Third Finalist Visit: October 21-22, 2019
  • Fourth Finalist Visit: October 23-24, 2019
We will send out each finalist’s name and background information a few days before each visit. Immediately following each candidate visit, we will request feedback from those who spent time with the candidate(s). The search committee will include this input in our final deliberations as we prepare to make our recommendation.

After all four finalists have completed their visits, and the search committee has reviewed the feedback we have gathered from community survey responses and reference calls, we will make our recommendation to the Board of Trustees, who will vote to determine who will be the next leader of Lakeview Academy. Our goal is to complete the search and be able to introduce our new Head of School by the end of November.

This is an exciting time for our school and we look forward to welcoming our finalists and showing them what makes Lakeview Academy such a special place.

Sincerely,

Sheetal Mangalat and Jay Kilroy

Dear Members of the Lakeview Academy Community,

The permanent Head of School search is moving forward and on schedule. We would like to thank everyone who took the time to meet with our consultants from Carney, Sandoe & Associates (CS&A), Barbara Daush and Ralph Davison, during their campus visit on April 15-16. The consultants met with close to 100 individuals, including students, parents, faculty, staff and other stakeholders to begin framing qualities the community is seeking in its next Head of School.

This visit was helpful in providing feedback to produce a Head of School Position Description, which will be used to market our school to prospective candidates and will also be posted to our website. In the coming weeks, all parents, faculty, staff and other stakeholders will be asked to complete an online questionnaire which will further inform the Position Description.

The Position Description will be advertised both nationally and internationally as the consultants identify and recruit candidates in order to secure the best possible pool of applicants for the position. After spending the majority of the late spring and summer vetting potential candidates, the consultants will meet with the Search Committee during the late summer or early fall to present the strongest potential candidates for the position.

Interviews will then be conducted to identify semifinalists to present for in person visits to the Search Committee. The committee will then select several of the best candidates as finalists to visit our campus and to meet with the various stakeholders of the Lakeview community. CS&A and the Search Committee will then consolidate all feedback from the interviews. The Search Committee will recommend a final candidate to the Board of Trustees, based on interview feedback, for approval and, with good fortune, the announcement of a new Head of School will be made to our School community this coming fall.

Please continue to check the Head of School Search link for the latest on the search process.

Sincerely,

Jay Kilroy and Sheetal Mangalat
