Our School

Campus: The K3 – 12th grade Lakeview campus rests on 92 beautiful North Georgia acres. The campus facilities consist of Lower, Middle, and Upper School buildings, Lower School gymnasium, Athletic Center, Student Center, Tennis Complex, Baseball Complex and soccer/football field. 

Enrollment: slightly under 600 students
Lower School (K3 – 5th): 37% of student body 
Middle School (6th – 8th): about 28% of student body 
Upper School (9th – 12th): about 35% of student body 

FacultyThe foundation of a Lakeview education is our faculty. 62% of our faculty holds advanced degrees - 75% in the Upper School, and half average more than 14 years experience in the classroom. 

Accreditation and Memberships: Lakeview Academy is accredited by the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS). Lakeview is also a member of the Atlanta Area Association of Independent Schools (AAAIS), Georgia Independent School Association (GISA), the Georgia High School Association (GHSA), and the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). Lakeview's K3 and K4 programs are fully licensed by the State of Georgia, Bright From the Start.

TechnologyTechnology is integrated into all aspects of Lakeview learning and all students K3 through 12th grade attend technology courses. Lakeview’s campus is enhanced with two computer labs, a wireless network, and a laptop/tablet program for grade 6-12 students and classroom notebooks for grades 3-5. Lakeview has Upper and Middle School robotics teams who have won awards at local, region, super regional and state levels.

Transportation: Lakeview offers transportation to Cumming, Buford, Chateau Elan, and Dahlonega areas. One-way and round trip bus rides are available to students in these areas.

Profile for Class of 2016: SAT (Middle 50% Range) Critical Reading 600-490; Math 620-520; Writing 590-480; (Upper 25% Range) Critical Reading 780-620; Math 780-630; Writing 790-620; ACT (Middle 50% Range) 29-21; (Upper 25% Range) 36-29. 
Advanced Placement: The College Board’s Advanced Placement Program offers high school students the opportunity to do college-level work. Successful achievement on the culminating exams may result in credit or advanced placement upon matriculation to college. Courses are offered in biology, calculus AB, calculus BC, chemistry, computer science, English language and composition, English literature and composition, environmental science, human geography, physics 1, psychology, Spanish language, statistics, studio art, U.S. history, and world history. 

College CounselingThe college counselor at Lakeview Academy works with students in grades 8-12 and their families to plan and prepare for the process of gaining admittance to college and to help them make informed decisions about education beyond Lakeview Academy. Our Class of 2019 earned $4,289,992 in non-Hope Scholarship offers. See our list of recent college acceptances.

Community Service:
 A central tenet of Lakeview Academy is the school’s commitment to community service. Students must complete 60 hours of community service in grades 9 – 12 to graduate from Lakeview Academy. 

Fine Arts - Creativity and self-expression are essential components to a Lakeview education and the Arts Department is uniquely placed in both the academic and co-curricular life of the school. We offer courses in painting and drawing, sculpture and ceramics, photography, digital arts, chorus, theater, speech, and drama. Students in all divisions may also participate in private piano, guitar, voice, and violin lessons. Lakeview Academy has won many State championship awards in the arts in addition to many other awards and recognition

: A qualified counselor coordinates guidance in the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools. The program includes both individual and classroom counseling and consultation with parents and teachers.

GHSA/GISA/ClubsLakeview offers Georgia High School Association (GHSA) baseball, basketball, cheerleading, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming, tennis, and volleyball as team sports for grades 7-12 and literary for grades 9-12. Lakeview competes in the GHSA Class A High School Division. Lakeview participates in the Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) clay target sports and offers clubs in robotics. Lakeview Academy has won many recent region championships and has had State winners in several sports.

Honor Council: Student-elected council administers the School's Honor Code in Middle and Upper Schools.

Learning Support
While Lakeview’s students are offered the opportunity to excel at a higher level, an academic support program is offered to students at all grade levels when extra help is needed.

Lower School Student Activities
Lower School students may participate in the following after school activities.  Some require a fee. K4 – 2nd grade Biddy Ball and Mighty Mites basketball; 1st – 5th grade Chess Club; 3rd – 5th grade Lions’ Pride Kids’ Choir;  4th and 5th grade Robotics.  Lakeview offers several Lower School athletic opportunities in partnership with Gainesville Parks and Recreation.
