Teacher, coach or staff member at Lakeview who has made the biggest impact to you: Coach Lawley has made the biggest impact on my career as a student. He was the first teacher I had who really pushed me to think in new ways and expand outside of just what my opinions were. In AP Human Geography whenever I thought something was wrong or an injustice, he would make me come up with a solution to the issue and not just think it was wrong without finding a solution.
Coach Gruhn made the biggest impact on my career as an athlete. I had him as a teacher for the first time second semester senior year, and even though he isn’t the tennis coach anymore, he would take time to run drills with me after I finished my workout in weight training. When I found out I was going to play tennis in college, he was the first person at Lakeview that I told.
What will you miss most at Lakeview Academy? The thing I will miss about Lakeview most is the small environment where I know every single face I pass in the halls. I get to see my younger sister and mom who are both in the middle school almost daily. I have a real, personal relationship with almost all my teachers that goes beyond just a nod in the hallway; they know about my life and they care. When I was granted a full-tuition scholarship I was able to tell my teachers and they knew how hard I had truly worked and gave big smiles, hugs and congratulations which I feel like is so special.
Did you participate in anything outside of Lakeview? I participated in the Fusion Student Ministry at Lakewood which gave me opportunities to serve all over the Gainesville community and all over the world as well really helping me decide that I want to become a missionary in the future. I also participated in the Tennis Academy at the Country Club which pushed me to up my tennis game, become a better athlete and gave me amazing coaches and friends.
College you will attend in the fall: Oglethorpe University
College degree or area of study: Business
Other than college, do you have any other plans after high school? After high school I am moving to Colorado to serve as a leader at a christian camp for the entire summer andI am playing tennis in college. I also plan to travel and become a missionary traveling to various countries all over the world.
