Commonly Asked Questions:

List of 14 frequently asked questions.

  • Q: Do Lower School students have summer assigments?

    K3 through 5th Grade
The purpose of summer reading at Lakeview Academy is to encourage lifelong reading habits and establish a community of readers at Lakeview.  With that in mind, Lakeview's Librarian, Tina Thomas, has compiled several titles for each grade level that are interesting to almost every child. Download this summer's PDF for details on each recommendation. Your child is also encouraged you to visit your public library to sign up for the summer reading program.

    Rising 5th graders
5th grade students will hit the ground running in math when they return. Students should be sure to have memorized their multiplication tables through the twelves. Multiplication is the basis for so many topics 5th grade will study in math this year. Students should also practice their basic addition and subtraction facts. This will help them become a better mental math student.

During the first week or two of school, parents of 5th grade students should email their teacher a baby picture (between ages 1-4) of their child to be used in a project and at the end of the year promotion ceremony. Please email this picture to either Mrs. Blackwell or Ms Moore.
  • Q: When will I find out who my child's teacher will be this year?

In August, just before school starts, you will receive a letter in the mail from your child’s teacher. These will all be mailed on the same day some time during the week of August 13th. If you have not received your homeroom teacher assignment letters by Wednesday, August 15, please call the Lower School Office at 770-532-4383, ext. 100 or stop by the office during Drop-In Day. Your child's teacher and class roster will also be available in the Lion Portal beginning August 15, 2018.

You and your child are invited to come to school to briefly meet the teacher just before school starts on Wednesday, August 15. New-to-Lakeview Academy Family Orientation will start at 4:15 p.m. in the Student Center; Drop-in Day (open house) for existing students will be from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the classrooms and on the sidewalk between the Lower School and the Student Center. Lakeview's Annual Meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center,
