8th Grade Wise Guys/Smart Girls Program Parent Meeting

8th grade students have the opportunity to take part in an educational program; for the girls a program called Smart Girls, and for the boys a program called Wise Guys.

It is designed to encourage healthy relationships and to empower our students to make safe and positive choices. The four-six lesson program will take place during PE, Study Hall, and/or Elective classes in March, April and May. The program is presented by Heather Weaver who is a Community Educator with Center Point, a local non-profit serving children and families.

Topics that may be covered include:
  • Healthy Relationships 
  • Peer Pressure
  • Decision Making and Goal Setting 
  • Self Esteem and Feelings
  • Abstinence and Pregnancy Related Issues 
  • Dating Violence
  • Technology and Safe Boundaries 
  • Laws and Consent
Center Point is funded by United Way, local church outreach programs, community civic organizations, government grants and private donations. Ms.Barbara Hicks, Director of Program Development, will present an information session for interested parents on March 9 from 8:30-9:00 a.m. in the Student Center.

Please email the Middle School Office Staff at  by Thursday, March 15, if you do NOT want your child to participate. If we do not hear from you, your child will participate in this program.
