Congratulations to Lady Lion, Eliza Snyder, who was named to the 2018-19 GHSA All-State Class A-Private Girls 2nd Team! Eliza was also named the Region 8-A Player of the Year and scored her 1,000th career high school basketball point this past season.. In addition, she was named the Athlete of the Week by both The Times and AccessWDUN for helping the Lady Lions claim the region title and go to Elite 8 at state.
Congratulations to senior Lainie Ewers who won 1st Place and a $2500 scholarship singing “Le Violette” in the Charles J. Thurmond Youth Art Scholarship Awards Kiwanis Club of Gainesville and will go on to the Kiwanis state competition to compete later this spring. Our other students, John Carter Cooper (violin), Nanditha Rajini, (vocals), and Matthew Ju (vocals), represented Lakeview well.
Congratulations to senior, Blake McIntyre, who was named the MVP of the North Georgia All Star Basketball game Saturday. In addition, Blake made Honorable Mention for the 2018-19 GHSA All-State Boys Class A private Basketball Team.
Congratulations also to Jackie Allen, Adam Cottrell, and Eliza Snyder who were also selected to play in the All Star Basketball games.
On March 1-2 and March 9, 43 Lakeview students of all ages who take piano and strings lessons at the school participated in the North Gainesville Federated Festival, playing for adjudication and bringing home many, many "Superior" ratings. Gold cups for multiple years of participation were presented to Arya Mangalat, Hicks Garlich, Miriam Haddad, and Cole Grover (15 points), Tessa Mazzaferro (30 points), and Harrison Wheeler (45 points). Ashton Blehm won the Federated Festival Theory Award of $100 for Levels 7-9. Diego Bulos was recognized for an Honorable Mention in the High School Scholarship Competition. There were also LA students who study music elsewhere who successfully participated.
Congratulations to Lakeview Academy's medical scholar graduates. Throughout the school year, the Brenau University program gives high school students a more in-depth look at potential medical careers through once-a-month experiences that immerse the students in different healthcare modules.

Lakeview Academy school spelling bee winners, Pavani Reddy and Luka Wolf, each competed in Round 1 of the GISA Spelling Bee on February 7 at McGinnis Country Day School. Both did an excellent job, and Luka Wolf qualified in the top eight to move on to Round 2 held at Atlanta Academy. Luka then competed in Round 2, placing in the top 20 to move on to Round 3 which is an oral round. He made it through four levels before exiting on the word "ersatz" and tying for 5th overall. We are very proud of our Lakeview spellers!
Congratulations to Lakeview senior, Anna Wylie, who signed to play volleyball with Georgia College. During Anna’s senior year playing volleyball, Lakeview’s varsity team won the Hall County Volleyball Championship, was the Region 8-A Private champions, and won their first state playoff game. In addition, Anna was named the Area 8-A Player of the year. Ana was also selected to play in the 2018 GHSA Senior All Star Volleyball match and she made First Team All-State for volleyball.
Mikhail Lovell, Lakeview’s Upper School Technology Teacher and Robotics Coach recently received the Compass Award at the First Tech Challenge (FTC) state competition. Nominated by the Upper School FIRST Tech Challenge robotics student team members, this award recognized Mikhail for his outstanding guidance and leadership to the team throughout the year as well as during the competition season.

Last year's varsity girls soccer team (2017-2018) received the Team Academic Award from the United Soccer Coaches Association for the 2017-2018 school year. Congratulations to the athletes for all their hard work in the classroom to achieve this excellent award! For a team to be considered, it must have a composite team grade point average of at least 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale) for all team members who appear on the official eligibility roster for the season. Lakeview's Middle School Robotics team competed at Super Regionals on Saturday in Woodstock. They won the Best Robot Design Award. Later this week, we should have confirmation that they are also headed to state competition. GO LIONS!
Congratulations to the Upper School robotics team who won the Think Award (for best Engineering Notebook), 2nd runner-up for the Inspire Award, (the most prestigious award in the competition), and was captain of the winning alliance at the Northern Georgia League Tournament. Team members, William Beard and Kalen Oliveira, were selected as Dean’s List semi-finalists, the highest honor for individuals on an FTC team. The team will compete next at the GA State Championships in February.
Congratulations to junior William Beard who was the highest scoring Lakeview Academy student in the 2018 Kennesaw State University Mathematics Competition. In addition, he scored in the 96th percentile (top 4%) of the 1,800 competition participants. Kudos also to Alice Gao who scored in the 91th percentile. Both advanced to 2nd round of Kennesaw State University Mathematics Competition later this week.
Sophia Coker's digital art, "Stoned Ground" and Jack Kennedy's pen drawing, "Audacity" was selected for the 2019 All State Art Symposium to be held at Columbus State University. This is a high honor, since there were over 1,000 entries this year and only 140 works were accepted by a panel of esteemed judges.
Congratulations to Lakeview swimmers, Lily Harris and Aranxta Villa. At this past Saturday's Hall County Championship swim meet, Lily finished 1st in the 100 breast and 2nd in the 50 free. Aranxta finished 1st in the 100 free. Lily qualified for the State Meet at GA Tech on February 9.
Congratulations to Lakeview freshman, Garv Gaur, who passed the second audition for GMEA All State Chorus last night with a perfect score! He will attend All State Chorus in Athens in February. He will also attend All State Reading Chorus next weekend in Athens.
