Welcome to the Fall and Week Six of School

Yesterday, a Kindergartener (wearing shorts and a t-shirt) told me “it really should be snowing right now as it is so cold.” Welcome to the fall, and week six of school! While it is not quite time to dust off the North Face Arctic Parka, observations about the cool weather were expressed to me by many other Lakeview students. I’ve been out and about meeting your children, trying to remember as many names as I can and referring to school pictures to fill in the gaps. It’s not easy (actually, it’s extremely difficult) with everyone wearing face masks. While I am feeling at times as though I am not really getting the full Lakeview experience, I have no doubt that you as parents are feeling the same: COVID-19 health & safety protocols have put limitations on visitors to campus, back-to-school events have been modified, and athletic events have been restricted. I am working with admin, faculty, and staff to create opportunities for parent interaction so that you do not feel isolated from the school. Lakeview Academy is committed to the partnership between school and family, and even though we are in the midst of the greatest challenge faced since World War II, please know that we are finding ways for the Lakeview Community feel safe, loved, and connected.
