New Coaches Named for Basketball and Volleyball

“I am confident that these three individuals will bring strong leadership to these athletic programs,” said John Simpson.  “I look forward to good things from all three.”

Wood joins Lakeview from Buford High School where he was head coach from 2021-2023 and led his team to state runner-up in 2022. He led his Gainesville High School team to state runner-up in 2018, and final four appearances with the North Hall High School boys in 2013, and a final four showing with the Johnson High School girls’ team in 2005 and 2006.

Wood’s head coaching record is 493-197.

He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and earned a master’s degree from the University of Alabama.  His specialist degree is from Lincoln Memorial University.

Huffman has been the assistant coach for the Lady Lions and helped lead this year’s team to the GIAA final four.

Huffman has extensive experience in several directorship positions with both Boys and Girls Club of Lanier and the Hall County club from 2006-2018.   He earned the Boys and Girls Club of America Advanced Leadership Certificate in 2008 and 2013.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University.

Towles joined Lakeview 23 years ago as a PE teacher and coach, leading tennis, basketball, and volleyball teams. She is a graduate of the University of North Georgia earning a Bachelor of Science degree and an M.Ed.  Her teaching career began at South Forsyth Middle School before she came to Lakeview in 1998.
