Lady Lions Win in Dramatic Fashion Over Pinecrest Academy

Lakeview's varsity girls soccer team won their first region contest 3-2 against #8 ranked Pinecrest Academy in a thrilling conclusion. The Lakeview defense cleared the ball to Sara Nivens who placed a perfect pass to Millie Filson for the game winning goal with only 4 second remaining. Nivens started the game with a bang, scoring within the first few minutes off a Filson assist. Pinecrest star forward, Ivey Crain, a William & Mary commit, found the back of the net minutes later to tie it up. Lakeview turned up the pressure in the second half and Hannah Perkins scored off a McKenna Filson assist. Ivey scored the equalizer again just moments later to tie it up 2-2. The Lakeview defense of Lauren Scott, Ella Martin, Halle Galyean, Virginia Cobb, and goalkeeper Celia Wilson-Patino held strong after that, holding off the Pinecrest attack.
