Lakeview Student is Governor's Honors Program Finalist

Lakeview has had a student selected for the prestigious and highly competitive Governor’s Honors Program (GHP) every year since 2012, with the exception of two years. This year’s awardee is Valor Lekas, ’24, who was chosen for GHP in communication arts.

Valor and her twin sister, Liv Lekas, ’24, are first-year students at Lakeview and have distinguished themselves in theatre, athletics, music, and art in their short time as Lakeview students.  Valor previously this spring won two state championship titles at the Georgia Forensic Coaches Association (GFCA) Varsity Speech & Debate State Championships in Extemporaneous Speaking and Impromptu Speaking.

GHP is a residential summer program for talented high school sophomores and juniors. The program is designed to provide students with the academic, cultural, and social enrichment necessary to become the next generation of global critical thinkers, innovators, and leaders.  The nomination and selection process is detailed and lengthy, and there is no guarantee that every school will have a winner.

The program is held mid-summer on a college campus, and this year Georgia Southern will host the cadre of talented students from across the state. Room and board are covered by the program.
