Students Recognized for Leadership and Academic Achievement

Lakeview upper school students were recognized for leadership and academic achievements at the Upper School's Honors and Awards Assembly.
 
Leyla Ozcelik is Lakeview’s Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) representative. HOBY’s mission is to provide lifelong leadership development opportunities that empower individuals to achieve their highest potential, and to help young people make a difference and become positive catalysts for change. The program is for students in the tenth grade and Leyla will attend the seminar this summer.
 
The Harvard Book Prize is awarded to the student who displays excellence in scholarship and high character, combined with achievement in other fields, and exemplifies Harvard’s commitment to excellence. Valor Lekas received this year’s award.
 
The Georgia Certificate of Merit is awarded to students in the upper five percent of their class during their junior year. This year’s Certificate of Merit awards were presented to Liv Lekas, Pavani Reddy, and Scott Rivenbark.
 
The Academic Merit award is presented to a student at each grade level who has shown the greatest improvement, academic progress, or effort over the course of the year. The award is determined by a vote of the Upper School faculty. The Academic Merit Awards were presented to Chloe Austin (9th grade), Aidan Mahaffey (10th grade), and Joshua Davis (11th grade).
 
In addition, these students were recognized:
2022-23 Honor Council - Anna Lauzon and Parker White (9th grade), William Hake and Max Marshall (10th trade), Annie Nivens and Kathryn McWhorter (11th grade), and Luke Harris and Henry Stewart (12th grade)

Hall County Youth Leadership Program (2023-24) - Hank Brock, William Harrison, Madi Loggins, Kathryn McWhorter, Annie Nivens, and Pavani Reddy

Governor’s Honor Program Nominees - Valor Lekas (Finalist in Communicative Arts), Liv Lekas, Adam Lauzon, Leyla Ozcelik, and Scott Rivenbark.
