Lakeview Golf Team Wins Valhalla Cup
Lakeview's varsity golf team opened the season by winning the Valhalla Cup hosted by East Hall at Chimney Oaks Golf Club. In winning the event, the Lions bettered 13 other teams including Cherokee Bluff (2nd Place), Madison County (3rd Place), and North Hall (4th Place). This is the second time in three years the golf team has won the tournament. In addition, Chandler Lovell and Carter Kontur were named to the All-Tournament Team. The Lions were paced to victory by seniors Chandler Lovell (70; 43 Points) and Carter Kontur (73; 39 Points). Junior Tanner Stephens (76; 34 Points) and senior Henry Stewart (79; 31 Points) rounded out the team’s four qualifying scores. Lovell (t-2 – Individual) and Kontur (t-5 – Individual) were also named to the All-Tournament Team. Other team members include junior Mario Patino and sophomore Jack Kempker. The coaches are Tyler Sanders and Tim Lovell.
It’s a great way to start the season. The boys played well, and it’s certainly something we can build on going forward.
The Varsity Golf Team will be back in action next Saturday, March 11th, against an equally strong field at the Raider Invitational hosted by Habersham Central at Apple Mountain Golf Club in Clarkesville, GA.
