Back-to-Back State One-Act Play Champions!

Lakeview Academy has once again claimed the GISA-AAA PG One-Act State Championship, successfully defending its title with a standout production of Little Shop of Horrors. This year’s victory marks the school’s eighth state one-act play championship, adding to titles earned in 2025, 2024, 2021, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014, and 2013.

Lakeview performers received multiple top honors at the state level. Two of the five statewide Outstanding Performer (Best Actor) awards were presented to Parker White for his portrayal of Seymour and Hannah Cobb for her role as Audrey II/The Plant. Amelia Corbin earned Honorable Mention for her performance as Audrey.

“We are incredibly proud of our cast and crew for their phenomenal production of Little Shop of Horrors and the tremendous effort that went into making it such a success,” said Head of School John Simpson. “A huge thank-you to our outstanding directing and production staff for their guidance and dedication, and to our entire community for your support throughout this journey.”

Reflecting on the achievement, "Little Shop of Horrors" Director Cece Conrath shared during an interview with GISA Vice President Stan Whitlock, “We have eighth graders through twelfth graders here, and they’ve worked so hard. We have some who have never done it with us before, some who have come back, and some who have been with us since middle school and beyond. We are so proud of what they do.”

This year marked the first time that the GISA state one-act play competitions were held in Gainesville. The event took place November 11–13, 2025, at the Brenau Downtown Center, bringing schools from across Georgia—and hundreds of visitors—to downtown Gainesville’s hotels and restaurants.
