  • Important Update on Mask Usage

The Health & Safety Task Force met this evening to discuss today's announcement by the CDC regarding mask wearing for vaccinated individuals. The Task Force has agreed that effective immediately, fully vaccinated staff, faculty, and students are no longer required to wear a face mask on Lakeview property.

This decision is based on the following:
    • CDC guidance
    • the high percentage of employees that are vaccinated
    • the low local community prevalence of COVID (approx. 5%)— and even less at Lakeview
Unvaccinated employees are required to continue to wear a facemask indoors on Lakeview property and at Lakeview events in order to protect Lakeview students who are not yet eligible to be vaccinated.

Face masks will be optional for all Lakeview students, but are recommended for those who have not yet received the vaccine. We encourage parents to have a conversation with your children about your wishes regarding mask wearing during school. As a community we will continue our focus on hygiene and common-sense infection control.

The Task Force believes the vaccine is the safest and MOST effective way to protect our community from COVID. We expect that the CDC and FDA will continue to expand eligibility for the vaccine to younger ages. In the meantime, if you or your family is eligible for the vaccine, please get it done for your and your community’s health.
  • Change in Facemask Policy

Lakeview's COVID Health & Safety Task Force has recommended that starting Monday, April 12, facemasks will no longer be required outdoors on Lakeview premises. Facemasks are still required to be worn by staff, faculty, students, and visitors while indoors. This change was made based upon data on vaccination numbers and local positivity rates, and it represents a positive step towards some sense of normality. I am thrilled that Field Day and other outdoor spring activities will be mask free, and finally, we will be able to see our children's smiling faces as they arrive at school.
