Head of School Update - May 22, 2025: Announcements & Celebrations

May 22, 2025

Dear Lakeview Family,

As we approach the end of another school year at Lakeview, let us take a moment to celebrate the accomplishments and talents of our students and share a few announcements.
  • First, congratulations to the Class of 2025! This year, our 52 graduates were offered an impressive total of $3,449,200 in non-Hope scholarships and will be enrolling in 25 different colleges and universities across 11 states. They earned admission to 80 colleges in 20 states and three countries. Many in this class were part of a state championship team or individually won a state championship during their high school careers, including in basketball, literary, one-act play, and robotics, which qualified for the world competition.
  • Our school has also excelled in extracurricular activities, with multiple state championships, including the GIAA-AAA Girls Basketball and GISA-AAA State One-Act Play (cast and crew of “The Addams Family”), as well as individual state champions in various literary categories.
  • In our commitment to student safety and well-being, we successfully implemented Centegix, a comprehensive safety solution designed to enhance security in schools through instant emergency alerts and visitor management. Additionally, we added a security arm at the checkpoint booth near the school entrance to ensure we can engage with all visitors upon their arrival. We appreciate the contributions of everyone who helped implement these increased security measures.
  • The Keystone Program at Lakeview, a program designed to support the specific learning needs of students with dyslexia or other mild language-based learning differences, successfully completed its inaugural year. The program will expand to grades 1 through 5 for the 2025-26 school year. Congratulations to all involved!
  • Thanks to the generosity of nearly 200 donors, our Imagine Capital Campaign was a resounding success. With their support, the construction of the new fine arts center has been completed. We will reveal the name of the building at our donor party on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, and hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, August 11, 2025. I hope you will join us.
  • Our lower school gym renovation is also complete. The newly renovated gym now features air conditioning and heating, electronic goals, LED lighting, fresh paint, and a new floor. We are truly grateful for the contributions that made this project possible.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
  • Next year, our robotics program will gain a significant amount of space as we renovate four upper school classrooms into a state-of-the-art robotics wing. This reimaged space will have a technology classroom, robotics practice room, robotics workshop, eSports room, and new technology equipment. I look forward to a dedicated area for our robotics program to thrive. Thanks to the incredible donors from our Lakeview Academy families, who have fully funded this $150,000 investment.
  • Additionally, our golf program will introduce two cutting-edge golf simulators, offering our athletes an exceptional opportunity to enhance their skills. These simulators will be located at the Lakeview Stadium.
  • This summer, we will be undertaking extensive landscaping around the school. I look forward to seeing the campus transformed when we all return in August.
I am deeply grateful to our Lakeview teachers, coaches, staff, students, and parents for making a significant difference in our students’ lives this year. Together, we have created an environment where our children can thrive and reach their fullest potential. I enjoyed witnessing our collaboration this year. As head of school, I am thankful for the effort we all put in daily to help our students grow. I look forward to what the future holds for Lakeview Academy. While I am excited about summer break, I cannot wait to see everyone in August as we begin another incredible school year.

It’s a great day to be a Lion,

John Simpson
