Describe a meaningful experience you had while at Lakeview.
A meaningful experience for me was winning the region championship last year. Our team played together so well, and when the final buzzer went off, everyone was filled with pure joy. We were all screaming and hugging, and that’s the type of thing you never forget. You and your best friends just did something big and cool and you did it all together. We also went to the Elite 8 in the state tournament that year, which was also really exciting.
What will you miss most at Lakeview Academy?
What I’m going to miss the most at Lakeview is the family environment. Lakeview was my third high school and I never really felt at home or found a group of true friends until I came to Lakeview. The family environment lets you talk to all sorts of people from different grades and in different social groups and with different interests, instead of just talking to the people you have classes with like at most schools. Not only are the students apart of the family, but so are the teachers. They are always there to help you and make jokes and it really is special!
Did you participate in anything outside of Lakeview?
I’ve played AAU (travel basketball) since the 6th grade. I have travelled all over the country for different tournaments and camps. I spend my whole summer practicing and playing games. AAU taught me sacrifice, and it ignited my dream of playing Division 1 college basketball. I devoted countless hours to practice, train, and play after the school ball season was over, and I wouldn’t change anything. I learned hard work, sacrifice, leadership, and how amazing it feels to accomplish a long-term goal!
College you will attend in the fall: Mercer University
College degree or area of study: Biology – Pre-Medicine
Other than college, do you have any other plans after high school?
I will be playing basketball at Mercer, so championships will be a big goal for me and my team! I also hope to travel in the summertime with Mercer on Mission, the study abroad and mission trip organization.
