As you may know, Lisa Wilkins, Lower School learning support, and Martha Lipold, Middle School learning support and Middle School science, and MaryAnn Sutherland, Lower School music and drama teacher, are retiring from Lakeview this month. We thank them for their years of service to Lakeview and its students.
I am pleased to let you know that the following individuals are joining our faculty in January while others are assuming new roles.
Lower School learning support: Dawn Barry is moving from the Lower School front office to teach in learning support. Mrs. Barry has taught at Lakeview Academy for many years and loves working with children. She is trained in Wilson reading.
Kathy Kersh, a math teacher with 20-plus years of experience and a winner of teacher of the year honors, will fill Mrs. Lipold’s Middle School learning support position. Darlene Snyder, Middle School Director, and Vicki Kirkley will fill Mrs. Lipold's eighth-grade science sections.
Lower School front office: Krista Martin will join Crystal Gravitt in the front office. Mrs. Martin has held similar positions in other organizations and is a familiar face to many teachers and families.
Lower School music and drama teacher (interim): Heather Beverly holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Shorter College in communications and theater. She has been employed by Walt Disney World, and brings vast music and theatre experience to the lower school.
Upper School learning support: John Rothwell, a recently retired Army Judge Advocate (attorney) brought his love of history, geography, and teaching to Lakeview earlier this semester.
I am grateful every day for our talented and hard-working staff, and I know you join me in welcoming these individuals to their new positions. Welcome to Lakeview!
