For the last several years, we have been tracking information about our senior classes and their college success. Tracking and documenting our success, especially with college acceptances and college matriculation, is an initiative of our strategic plan. Beth McElwee, assistant head of school, shared a portion of this information with the Lakeview Board of Directors this week. Kelsey Marcero, college counselor, was instrumental in collecting this data.
Here is an updated list of college acceptances for the 40 students of the Class of 2023:
HOPE or Zell scholarships for 2023 won’t be known until graduation, but you can see on this chart our success rate for the last five years. The GPA needed to qualify for a HOPE scholarship is 3.0 and a Zell, 3.7.
We are also tracking our graduates’ college graduation rates. The information below is from the National Student Clearinghouse, which enables us to track our graduates by class. The national average for college graduation in four years is 47%, according to Best Colleges, and our graduates are performing well above that average.

When we reviewed this data, it was good to see that we have much of which to be proud. This is only a portion of the data we are tracking. In my opinion, our strong academic program coupled with our talented college counselor, Kelsey Marcero, are differentiators that help make Lakeview Academy stand out among our peer schools.
Did you see the news earlier this week that our Literary Team won the GISA State Championship? This competition demands talent in a variety of areas from rhetorical essays, impromptu speeches, spelling, and music – solos, and quartets. Congratulations to our extraordinary students, their coaches, and all the teachers who work behind the scenes to make a championship possible.
It's a GREAT day to be a Lion!
