Upper School Director Mike Lawley commended the students’ exceptional results to Lakeview educators’ unwavering commitment and outstanding efforts. “Our continued success with AP scores is a product of all Lakeview teachers from preschool through 12th grade. Our AP teachers benefit from our consistency at all levels to teach critical thinking through reading and writing, including our intentional approach to phonics in the earliest grades. Our achievement in the sciences would not be possible without our students’ early exposure to research, analysis, and real-world problem-solving. We believe strongly that these successes are the cumulative result of the entire Lakeview experience.”
Lakeview is proud that it offers its students a wide variety of AP opportunities beginning in 9th grade, an opportunity from which nearly 60% of Lakeview freshmen benefit. Other highlights of Lakeview’s strong AP program include an 8:1 student-teacher ratio, average test scores that regularly surpass global averages, and, remarkably, nearly half of Lakeview’s last three graduating classes have earned credit in six or more AP courses.
Dr. Wade Hanse, Lakeview’s assistant head of school for academics, declared of the recent AP results, “We intentionally challenge our students in the classroom. We strive for an individualized academic experience and building meaningful relationships with each child we serve. At every level, Lakeview’s teachers are willing to give of their time, before or after school, to work with our young learners and help them achieve. It is from this place of trust and high expectations that our students regularly reach such exceptional outcomes as evidenced in our recent AP scores.”
Lakeview Academy is committed to high-quality academic programming from its earliest grades through graduation. Lakeview’s AP success is just one measure of the school’s commitment to academic excellence. The robust curriculum is designed to stimulate and challenge students, ultimately setting a foundation for their holistic development as accomplished young adults. We are so proud of our students’ recent performances, and we will continue to explore ways to raise the bar for Lakeview’s students now and into the future.
